KYBELLA® Treatment for a Double-Chin

Kybella Neck TreatmentKYBELLA® is an injectable solution that offers both women and men a non-surgical way to reduce excess fat that may be creating the appearance of a “double-chin.” This innovative solution available from Dr. Christopher Godek and our skilled aesthetic enhancement team here at Bella Derma Medi Spa can help many patients achieve a slimmer, more contoured neck profile. KYBELLA® has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of submental fullness (excess fat in the upper neck and beneath the chin), and can be an ideal option for patients who suffer from this very common concern.

What Are the Benefits of KYBELLA®

KYBELLA® is composed of a natural molecule known as deoxycholic acid, which can be injected into the upper neck to help break down fat that is causing a double-chin. As the KYBELLA® solution works to destroy the excess fat cells, the body filters them out via natural processes, leading to a gradual recontouring of the upper neck area.

The many potential benefits of KYBELLA® include:

KYBELLA® can be an excellent option for many individuals who are experiencing a double-chin due to excess fat; however, this treatment will not be effective in cases where the concern is caused by excess, inelastic skin. We will evaluate your needs during the initial consultation and talk with you about your goals. If you are not a candidate for KYBELLA®, we can suggest alternatives that may be ideal for your expectations. Our practice also offers non-surgical CoolSculpting® for excess fat removal under the chin, and Dr. Godek can perform surgical treatment for patients looking to address loose, excess skin that may be causing the concern.

What Is the KYBELLA® Treatment Like?

Depending on your unique needs, this treatment typically only takes about 20 minutes or less to complete. The KYBELLA® solution will be delicately injected into areas under the chin with an ultra-fine needle. We can add a topical anesthetic to the skin before the injections to reduce discomfort during the procedure.

Patients can expect a certain degree of swelling, redness, and bruising following KYBELLA® treatment; however, these effects should only be temporary and often fade significantly over the next few days. In some cases, three to six KYBELLA® treatments may be necessary to achieve the best possible result.

How Long Will KYBELLA® Results Last?

The results of KYBELLA® can last for several years (even decades) as long as patients maintain a healthy diet and limit weight fluctuations over time as much as possible.
